Monu Goyat on May 30 created history after he became the most expensive Kabaddi Player in the game’s league history. During the first of the two-day Pro Kabaddi League auction held in Mumbai, Goyat was snapped up by Haryana Steelers for a whopping Rs 1.51 crore.

Following this bid, Goyat surpassed Indian football player Sunil Chhetri as the costliest non-cricketer in league games in India. The Indian football captain, who plays for Bengaluru FC in Indian Super League, was bought for Rs 1.5 crore, 1 lakh less than Goyat.

Hailing from Bhiwani district of Haryana, Goyat started his journey in kabaddi while he was in class five. Goyat represented Haryana in school games and Under-19 tournament. He joined the Indian Army in 2010 as a Havildar later went on to represent Services in domestic kabaddi games.

He plays as a raider in kabaddi games.

Apart from Goyat, four other Indians crossed the Rs 1 crore price mark. Rahul Chaudhari went to Telugu Titans via FBM for Rs 1.29 crore, Sukesh Hegde was bought by Tamil Thalaivas. Nitin Tomar fetched Rs 1.15 crore as Puneri Paltan bought him, while Deepak Niwas Hooda was bought by Jaipur Pink Panthers for the same price. Rishank Devadiga was sold to UP Yoddha for Rs 1.11 crore.
