The fifth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League started with a bang at the at the iconic Gachibawli stadium with Telugu Titans’ massive victory over the tournament debutants, Tamil Thalaivas by 32-27 . For the first time in the history of PKLs, the Titans won their opening game and that too with a huge margin. In the first game of Zone A, Titans skipper Rahul Chaudhari won the toss and elected the court. The Telugu Titans looked dominating right from the first minute of the game. The new entry Thalaivas looked struggling throughout the first half. With the first game of the season came the first all out as well. Moments before the half time, the Thalaiva’s were all-out while they ended up with 6 points behind the Titans after the completion of the first half.

Telugu Titans: 17
Tamil Thalaivas: 11
In the second half, the Thalaivas once again looked struggling in front of their Telugu opponents. Ajay Thakur and Co. fought really very hard to somehow be back in the game but their efforts didn’t work for them. On the other hand, the Titans were getting points within a blink of an eye. Titans captain Rahul Chaudhary took 25th super 10 of his career. Nilesh Salunke remained the second top scorer of the game with 7 points and also didn’t get out in the entire game.
With 4 minutes left in the match, the Titans were way ahead of the Thalaivas and were leading by 10 points. However, by the end of the game, the point difference was minimised a bit but the Thalaivas failed to be back iin the game and lost their first game by 5 points.

Earlier today, the opening ceremony of the competition was studded with stars of film and cricket world. Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar was specially invited to recite the national anthem and to start the game. Other than him, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Actor Rana Daggubati, Allu Arjun, Chiranjeevi, Indian shuttler PV Sindhu were also present at the stadium to support their teams.
