Cristiano Ronaldo’s mistake led to Juventus’ embarrassing defeat to Young Boys in the 2018 Champions League fixture on December 12. Juventus wasn’t having the the best of games with Young Boys leading 2-0 till the 80th minute. Paulo Dybala got his team back into the game with a corner in the second half. Dybala almost scored a stunning equalizer in the extra time but Ronaldo’s unnecessary header nullified it.
The Portuguese were on the offside when Dybala settled things with an emphatic finish. The Juventus forward was celebrating before he realised the offside flag was up.
Here’s a look at the goal Dybala was robbed of:

It’s sad that this beautiful strike from Dybala didn’t stand because Ronaldo interfered. #YBJuve pic.twitter.com/KDWVvMNKJ8

Ronaldo tried to steal Dybala’s screamer and he was offside. His team lost because he was so selfish he couldn’t let his teammate score. People told me he is a leader and Messi is not. This ends the discussion https://t.co/NxPsNQMHH2

It was not a good game for the visitors as they conceded a penalty in the 30th minute. Ronaldo did not have a great outing either as he missed a couple of chances in the first half, and one in second half.
Despite the upset, Juventus finished at the top of the table in Group H in the 2018 Champions League, and advanced to round of 16. However, Ronaldo’s form remains a concern as this was the first time he didn’t score an away goal since Champions League 2008-09. The transition seems to be heavy on him as he finished with just one goal in the group stages.
