Women's World Cup 2017: Harman had led India to Asia Cup win in 2016 and is also in the reckoning to be India's next captain

Harmanpreet Kaur has become a household name in India, after her heroics at the recently concluded Women’s World Cup. Mithali Raj-led India made it to the finals, only to emerge second best. But the blue brigade is being congratulated by cricket followers from across the world. Harmanpreet Kaur’s breathtaking 171 not out off 115 balls against Australia shot her to the limelight and helped India make it to the finals. Harmanpreet returned home to her hometown of Moga to a rousing reception and understandably so.

In an exclusive chat with The Indian Express, she said, “This is new, I am not used to such starry welcomes. But this moment is hard-earned. I feel so proud. My hometown has never welcomed me in this manner.”

She also said, “My entire focus will be on the T20 World Cup to be held next year. We have to win that. It is a dream.”

There was a roadshow organised for the star cricketer. The cricketer who was on her vehicle travelling through Moga, was being recognised by a passer-by, who was not shy about asking her for a photo. To being recognised she said, “Now this is something new for me. I have played in Moga for years but this is different and special, not only for me but for all cricketers.”

 During her roadshow…

Harman is still young and has time on her side to play at least couple of more World Cup’s and she would be hoping to lift the coveted crown someday.
