Ahead of the South Africa tour, Shikhar Dhawan has been having a tough time with Emirates Airline. Allegedly, Dhawan’s family was not allowed to board the connecting flight to South Africa from Dubai as they were not carrying birth certificates and other documents.
The upset cricketer took to Twitter and bashed the Emirates Airline. He tweeted:
1/2.Absolutely unprofessional from @emirates. Was on my way 2 SA with my fam & was told tht my wife and kids can’t board the flight from Dubai to SA. Was asked to produce birth certificates & other documents fr my kids at the airport which we obviously didn’t have at that moment.

2/2.They are now at Dubai airport waiting for the documents to arrive. Why didn’t @emirates notify about such a situation when we were boarding the plane from Mumbai? One of the emirates’ employee was being rude for no reason at all.

Emirates Airline replied with an automated message:
We’re sorry to hear this, Shikhar. We’d like to find out more on a private message. Please include your booking reference or e-ticket numbers starting in 176. https://t.co/67ooSY3Pnf

Dhawan also complained about the rude behaviour of one of the employees. He emphasised that he was not informed about these documents when they were boarding the flight from Mumbai.
This is not the first time Emirates Airline has been at the receiving end. On December 28, England cricketer Kevin Pietersen too faced some issues with the airline. His luggage was left in Dubai and was not give the live streaming of the Big Bash League (BBL) match despite being a Platinum member of the airline.

He took on Emirates Airline in a series of tweets and trolled them at the same time:
1. YOU FORGET TO PICK ME UP FOR MY FLIGHT.
2. YOU’VE JUST LEFT ALL MY LUGGAGE IN DUBAI.
How do I work on international TV in a few hours with no clothes?

We are yet to hear the other side of the story as to why Dhawan’s family was not allowed to board the flight and why they were not informed about carrying the documents beforehand.
