If a team manages to bowl dot balls in double digits in a T20 match, it is safe to call it an achievement. But Chennai Super Kings (CSK) frontline bowler Deepak Chahar surprised everyone by bowling 20 dot balls in his quota of 4 overs (24 balls) in an innings.
Chahar bowled to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) big-hitters Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana, Robin Uthappa and Andre Russell. He bowled just one wide and gave 20 runs in his 4 overs, even taking three vital wickets.
KKR openers Lynn and Narine are known for getting off to a flier and taking the game away from the opposition early on in the innings. Both the openers could not score a single boundary off his bowling (excluding the overthrow).
He got the wickets of Lynn, Narine and Uthappa in the powerplay overs, pushing the visitors on the back foot straightaway. He carried the CSK bowling lineup not letting KKR batsmen take advantage of the fielding restrictions in the powerplay overs.
Later on in the final over, Chahar continued hitting the right areas. Getting hit for just one six off 5 balls by Andre Russell is a huge achievement considering what sublime form he is in currently.

The 26-year-old broke the 10-year-old IPL record that was jointly held by fast bowlers Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel and Fidel Edwards. The previous three feats were achieved in the same year when IPL was shifted to South Africa where pitches favoured the fast bowlers. Needless to say, he was awarded man of the match for his match-winning spell.
