This video proves MS Dhoni is the greatest wicket-keeper who ever played

The master of the glove was away and was not even looking at the stumps

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a legend when it comes to batting and being a captain. He is one of the best wicket-keepers of the world. But, the way the veteran is proving his athleticism in the ongoing India-New Zealand ODI series, arguably he is proving himself to be the best wicket-keeper to have ever graced the game of cricket. We are not saying this for nothing. We have proof.

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has set standards as far as fitness and quick reflexes are concerned. In the third ODI, he had stumped Ross Taylor in fraction of a second. Commentator Ravi Shastri was mighty impressed by his quickness. He called him ‘faster than a pickpocket.’

First MS Dhoni almost took a stunning catch to dismiss Kane Williamson, who was looking dangerous. He then dismissed Ross Taylor in an impossible way. When Dhawal Kulkarni threw the ball from the deep, Taylor was running in towards Dhoni to complete his second run. The throw was a little wide. But that didn’t deter MS Dhoni.

The master of the glove was away and was not even looking at the stumps. He caught the throw with his back facing the stumps. The dashing captain gauged the position of the wickets and had a shy at the stumps. He threw the ball. It was no accident that the ball hit the stumps. Dhoni has done similar things many many times. But, this time, it seemed like art. The umpire couldn’t follow what transpired. He sent the decision upstairs. The result we already knew. Like Ravi Shastri said: “We know when he (Dhoni) is celebrating.”

Dhoni had recently said that he was promoting himself up the order as he was having difficulty in rotating the ball lower down the order. He had been under criticism for not being able to finish off matches. With this comment Dhoni officially shun the role of match finisher. However, he scored 80 runs in third ODI, silencing his critics.
