The 900th episode of Smackdown was historic in every sense. Two legends – Undertaker and Edge made a comeback. Edge spoke about how he has been an ardent supporter of the Blue team and is interested in the Team Raw versus Team Smackdown match at the Survivor Series. He addressed and interacted with Shane McMahon, WWE World Champion AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton and mascot James Ellsworth. And then, the bell tolled.
Undertaker made his grand entry and made his intentions clear. He addressed the Smackdown team, “Wrestlemania will no longer define who I am. I am back taking souls and digging holes. Survivor Series was where the Undertaker was born and Smackdown has always been my home. At this year’s Survivor Series, there’s no reason to fear failure. But if you fail… if you fail, you will have reason to fear the Deadman. Team Raw, better Rest In Peace.”
The former world champ was last seen at WrestleMania 32 where he won a Hell in a Cell match against Shane McMahon. Post that, Undertaker had not appeared on WWE’s weekly shows.
In the start of the episode, WWE Intercontinental Title match was contested between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler was unable to defend his title as The Miz became the new Intercontinental champion. WWE NXT Superstar Oney Larcan was defeated by Kalisto in the next segment. Nikki Bella and Carmella’s contest turned into a Team Raw versus Team Smackdown contest where Team Smackdown emerged as winners.
Next was the 16-Man tag team match between The Ascension, The Spirit Squad, The Vaudevillains and The Headbangers, who were up against Tyler Breeze, Fandango, American Alpha, The Hype Bros and The Usos. Gable got the pin on Mosh as Tyler Breeze and company won the event.
