Virat Kohli Beats Sachin Tendulkar, Viv Richards, Mohammad Yousuf Narrowly To Reach This Milestone

And Virat Kohli reaches another milestone

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been in sublime form donning the whites in England. After overcoming the demons of English pitches with a century in Edgbaston, Kohli has been a headache for the hosts. He is undoubtedly India’s best batsman whether you refer to statistics or otherwise.

He needed just 6 runs to reach the 6,000 run mark in Tests before the fourth Test at The Rose Bowl, Southampton. With two wickets down, he took the field and with 6 runs he went past cricketing legends Sachin Tendulkar, Sir Vivian Richards and Mohammad Yousuf in one go.

The 29-year-old became the second-fastest Indian and 9th overall to reach the milestone. He took 119 innings to get to the 9th spot whereas Tendulkar, Richards and Yousuf took 120 innings. The fastest Indian on the list is Sunil Gavaskar who achieved the feat in 117 innings.

He is also the 10th Indian batsman to get past 6,000 Test runs. Here’s how Twitter reacted to Kohli’s latest feat:

The Delhi batsman took just 14 innings to get from 5,000 runs to 6,000 runs. Seeing the form Kohli is in, his fans would expect him to be the fastest to accomplish 7,000 Test runs.

The list is currently headed by late Wally Hammond who took just 131 innings to score 7,000 Test runs. If not Hammond, then he can aim to go past Virender Sehwag (134 innings) and Tendulkar (136 innings) who are second and third on the list respectively.
