Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram is not happy with his international players eating biryani ahead of World Cup 2019. Yes, you read that right. But wait, there is a reason for that. The World Cup-winning (1992 World Cup) member of the Pakistani team lashed out at the management for serving biryani to players ahead of their World Cup campaign starting May 31 against West Indies.
Pakistani journalist Saj Sadiq tweeted Akram’s statement claiming players’ diet as they get ready for the big tournament,
Wasim Akram “Pakistani players are still being served biryani and you cannot compete against champions by feeding them biryani” #Cricket

Recently, Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur too shared his concerns about the fitness levels and fielding standards of the players.
“I think on this tour, our fitness standards and our fielding were not where they needed to be. That’s understandable when you see the likes of young Abid Ali, Hasnain, and guys like that hadn’t been in our setup before. Those that had been in our setup for a long period of time, who knows what the standards are, are aware we will never ever compromise on fitness.”
After winning Champions Trophy 2017, Pakistan have not been able to dominate teams in ODIs. Recently, they were whitewashed by Australia by 5-0 in the ODI series at home. Before that, they were outclassed by New Zealand and South Africa in UAE as well.
They will be touring England for 1 T20I and five ODIs which may give them advantage over other teams as they will have ample time to adapt to the conditions.
