Ederson Moraes makes 2018’s biggest goalkeeping BLUNDER to allow Liverpool win a nail-biter

It was a seven-goal carnage when Liverpool hosted Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday, January 14. Liverpool came back to win the nerve-wracking match 4-3. The Reds struck after less than 10 minutes when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain moved forward from midfield to collect a layoff from Roberto Firmino and send a low shot past City keeper Ederson. Leroy Sane equalised shortly before the interval, but Liverpool blew City away after halftime with Firmino chipping Ederson to restore the home side’s lead and Sadio Mane striking from the edge of the box.

The goal that blew everyone’s mind:

The goal came from Egyptian international Mohamed Salah. In a half-hearted attempt, Salah shot the ball towards the visitors’ goal which was cleared back by Ederson, who was out of his mark as they had an offside trap in place. The ball ricocheted with Salah at around 40 yards and Salah with his might took the left-foot shot sailing back over the stranded keeper’s head. The goal gave Liverpool 4-1 lead over City. It was the goalkeeper’s mistake as he could not clear the ball first time.

Two late goals, City clawed back in the match but three goals proved to be too much for the EPL leaders. The loss at Anfield brought a halt to City’s 22-match unbeaten streak.
