The Big Bash League (BBL) 2017-18 witnessed a few amazing catches on the field, including Ben Laughlin and Jake Weatherland duo’s gravity-defying catch. But, the catch from a spectator stole the show in the semi-final of BBL 2017-18 between Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes. The spectator, who wore a Perth Scorchers jersey, caught hold of the ball as opener Michael Klinger struck the ball for a six.
In the second over of Perth’s innings, Riley Meredith bowled a short delivery to Klinger who went back to the crease and pulled it over deep fine leg for a maximum. He used the pace of the ball as it travelled way past the boundary line and into the stands. Two spectators leaned forward near the grills, in an attempt to take the catch. One of them was successful after which he struggled to contain his excitement.

However, Klinger got out in the next over at a score of 15, leaving his team in danger, chasing a mammoth total of 211 to reach the finals and defend the title. Perth batting lineup suffered from a major collapse as the pressure of Required Run Rate turned out to be too high for them. They lost 6 wickets in a matter of 27 runs.
