Like each year, Women’s Day is here again. And what’s most convenient way to celebrate it than forwarding WhatsApp messages, sharing those customary posts on your timelines or writing about women achievers in every field. The usual drill. But AIB (All India Bakchod), in their ode to Indian women have come out with a painful video highlighting the plight of women in Indian society. The entire video is based on an indoor game that the 90s children fondly remember as ‘Miss Mary’.
The one-minute video, which is rather simple in its conception, delivers a message so strong that it’ll give you goosebumps. Highlighting how women are wronged and violated — physically, mentally, emotionally– at every stage of their lives, the AIB video is a rude reminder of how India treats its women. No doubt things have begun to look up but if we’re still coming across headlines of child sexual abuse incidents, domestic violence, marital rape, sexual harassment at workplaces, gender discrimination, pay parity, et al, there’s still lot to achieve.
