For the residents of Pimple Saudagar area of Pimpri Chinchwad, near Pune, Friday morning was quite unusual. Around 300 hoardings with “(girl’s name), I am sorry” printed in bold along with a heart symbol in red were hanging all around.
Apparently, the posters were put by a man to apologise to his girlfriend after a tiff. Though it might sound a sweet gesture, a complaint against him has been registered in Wakad police station.
Nilesh Khedekar, a 25-year-old local businessman, is now in trouble as per rules dealing with illegal hoardings and defacement of public property. According to police officials, Khedekar wanted to make up with his girlfriend after a quarrel and, so came up with the creative idea.
“We managed to zero-in on his friend Vilas Shinde who had helped Khedekar get the flex hoardings printed. Through him, we traced Khedekar who is the brain behind this act,” the official said.
A Wakad police official told to PTI that soon after they were alerted to the hoardings, investigations were started.
“The girl was coming on Friday to the area from Mumbai. Under the cover of darkness in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, over 300 hoardings were put up on the route which the girl was likely to take,” the official said.
As per the official, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation had also been intimated about the issue and now the civic body will take further action against Khedekar.
