Data security is one of the prime concerns in the digital age. Firewalls are being breached, applications are being bundled with malware and passwords are being bypassed remotely. At a time when tonnes of data is being shared on the Internet, hackers have found new and innovative ways to steal your private information. And unlike yesteryears, smartphones these days are the keys to knowing a person as they not only hold the passwords to various social networking and digital communication platforms but also carry a detailed history of our digital habits.

That being said, one of the easiest ways to gain access to someone’s smartphone is by physically hacking it. Most people use swipe, PIN and pattern to lock their smartphones.

For those of you who don’t know, fingerprint lock is one of simplest and yet one of the most effective ways to lock your smartphone. Just go to the ‘Lock Screen and Security’ settings of your smartphone> Select ‘Fingerprint’ option> pick either a PIN, pattern or password to go with your fingerprint> scan and save your fingerprint.

Iris Scanner

Just like the fingerprint, your retina scanner is unique to an individual and it is one of the safest ways to lock your smartphone ensuring that no one is able to unlock your smartphone unless you are Loki (from the Avengers series). Some of the popular smartphones that feature iris scanner are– Microsoft Lumia 950, Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, Vivo X5 Pro and TCL 560.

Voice Unlock

Not many people about know this but you can also use your voice to lock your smartphone on the devices running on the Android operating system. Though it’s not as safe as the iris scanner or the fingerprint scanner, nonetheless, it’s good. All you need to do is go the ‘Security’ settings of your smartphone> go to ‘Smart Lock’ option and save ‘OK Google’ in your voice in the ‘Trusted Voice’ section.
