How to get WhatsApp video calling on your Android phone

WhatsApp rolled out video-calling feature and it's freakin' cool!

Social messaging platform WhatsApp on Tuesday officially rolled out video calling feature to all its users worldwide. The update is available across all the three platform including Android, iOS and Windows. The new feature will enable WhatsApp users to talk with their friends and family just like Skype and FaceTime.

“We’re introducing this feature because we know that sometimes voice and text just aren’t enough. We want to make these features available to everyone, not just those who can afford the most expensive new phones or live in countries with the best cellular networks,” WhatsApp wrote in a blog post.

The new update will work on all devices with Android version 4.1 and above. But in case you’re unable to get the update, here’s how you can get the video calling feature on your Android smartphone:

Step 1: Go to Google Play Store and search for WhatsApp Messenger

Step 2: Simply scroll down to ‘Become a beta tester’ option and click on ‘I’m in‘

Step 3: To join beta programme click ‘Join‘

Step 4: It takes a few minutes to sign-up as the beta tester, so don’t freak out

Step 5: Once you become a beta-tester, click on ‘Update‘

Step 6: Click on ‘Open‘.  To make a video call, go to your friend’s profile and click on telephone icon.

Step 7: Click on ‘Video Call’ and enjoy WhatsApping your friend!
