In the era of technology, innovation is the key to staying ahead of the competition. And when you are as popular as WhatsApp is, introducing updations and new features to your platform is a high priority thing. This not only includes updating the existing features but also introducing features that will keep the users engaged.
The word that is doing rounds on the social media is that popular social messaging app WhatsApp is introducing a feature that would send a notification to the users if you take a snapshot of your chat. But here’s a thing, the rumoured feature that has raised concerns among the WhatsApp users and send social media into a frenzy is a hoax!
Yes, if you’re worried that days of your silent stalking will come to an end then relax, coz it’s just another rumour floating around.
Apparently, a humour website 8shit on January 23, announced that WhatsApp would inform the other user if you take a snapshot of the conversation from February 5. The website even made its argument look convincing by publishing a fake quote by the company CEO Jan Koum stating, “The functioning is simple, just like the blue tick: You will have the option activated by default. If it’s checked, you’ll be notified if someone screenshots your conversation, and others will be notified if you screenshot theirs. If it’s unchecked, no one gets notified.”
However, it was later clarified that no such update has been released by the company. If you’re wondering, how are we so sure about it, then read on.

Well, firstly, there was no update regarding any such release on the official WhatsApp blog and secondly, the website published a disclaimer stating, “8Shit is a satire news and humour website. All its content is fiction (except those under the “serious” category) and shouldn’t be taken as real. All references, names and marks or institutions in this web are used as contextual elements, like in any novel or science-fiction story.”
