After disrupting the market with its lucrative data plans, newbie telecom operator Reliance Jio introduced its 4G enabled VoLTE feature phone in July this year. And now the device is finally available for beta testing, which will commence on August 15, 2017. However, it remains unclear if the Jio Phone will be handed out to Jio employees and their families for testing or to regular customers on a first-come-first serve basis.
Beta testing of the device is particularly important as it helps the company to know how the device will work in real time conditions and if the software or the hardware needs to be updated. It will not only give the company a chance to study the factors that can go wrong but also help the company a chance to determine if the existing features need to be fine tuned.
Jio Phone pre-booking
Reliance Jio’s Jio Phone can be pre-booked via both online and offline channels starting August 24, 2017. Reports suggest that some retailers have already started taking the pre-orders for Jio Phone, which will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
