Netflix May Delay '13 Reasons Why' Season 2 Until It Is Deemed Safe For Kids

Netflix has been asked to hold the release of the 13 Reasons Why's second season until experts deem it to be safe for consumption by minors.

13 Reasons Why season one found itself in a storm of controversies after some people argued that the themes covered in the show could potentially be harmful to minors’ well being. Now, The Parents Television Council has asked Netflix to hold the release of the show’s second season until experts deem it to be safe for consumption by an audience that is comprised heavily of minors.

The first season of the show was heavily criticized for the graphic depiction of its lead character’s suicide, as well as the graphic visuals of depression, bullying, rape and suicide. Netflix had announced that it will add warnings and crisis hotlines information to its episodes, but most parents are still afraid that the second season may cause unprecedented events much like the first installment.

With most people eagerly waiting for the second season (that didn’t release on 31st March as per the rumors), here’s how Twitter is reacting to the delay:

Do you think Netflix has done enough for viewer protection or should the streaming giant add additional safeguards?
