Actress Disha Patani, on Friday, shut down a media organisation for their distasteful tweet in the most epic way. The news channel in question posted an old photo of Disha (when she was in 7th standard), juxtaposed it with one of her recent photos and their tweet (which has since been deleted) read: “Can you believe how ugly Disha Patani looked once, see the contrast”. But Disha nailed it with her fantastic comeback:
You are absolutely right @news24tvchannel ! shouldve worn a beautiful gown and done up my hair n make up nicely before heading to my 7th std class. #sorryforbeinganuglychild P.s. you couldnt get a better breaking news than that? pic.twitter.com/mJM228LdF1

With the soaring competition among different media organisations to churn out big numbers, this one totally crossed all the limits. Adulting is difficult, we understand, but being appropriate isn’t that difficult, for sure.
As soon as Disha posted a response with a screenshot of the now-deleted tweet, Twitter came out in her support and trolled the channel with a vengeance:
We live in a country where skin colour is a criteria to define your beauty and not your character. Completely nailed it @DishPatani. Well done. Shame on @news24.

These idiots are always searching for anything that can fill airtime.

But you looked beautiful and pristine even in that school dress. Who is this idiot that tweets for News 24 Channel? He/she needs to get his sense of aesthetics and beauty right and head examined. He/she obviously picked up a wrong example.

But how can anybody use word ‘Ugly’. and that too for a school going girl. Wish better sense prevails in reporting.

On the contrary, you look like quite a pretty school girl even in that Not So dazzling uniform!

This shows how deep rooted looks & stereotypes related to gender are in our society! Bravo Disha! Loved your response!!

It’s not a ‘news’ channel… It’s competing with the soap opera dramas!!!
