Japanese carmaker Nissan has launched updated version of its compact hatchback Micra for the Indian market with the starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).The new hatchback will essentially have number of similarities in terms of the design language to the outgoing version but notable changes have been accorded in the vehicle which includes automatic headlamps with follow me home functionality, automatic rain sensing wipers and speed sensing door locks.
The new Micra will be available in 7 colours- Brick Red, Turquoise Blue, Blade Silver, Onyx Black, Nightshade, Storm White and Sunshine Orange. “The new Micra brings together Japanese technology and European styling in a package that makes it one of the best premium urban hatchbacks at an attractive price point,” Nissan Motor India MD Arun Malhotra told reporters here.

The new Micra has been powered with 1.2 petrol engine with automatic transmission and 1.5 litre diesel powertrain paired with a 5- speed manual transmission. The claimed fuel economy of the new Micra is 23.08 kmpl for diesel variant, while the claimed mileage of the CVT variant is 19.34 kmpl. The car comes with various features, including auto headlamps and rain sensing wipers. Nissan has so far sold around 80,000 units of the car in India since its launch in 2010. The latest update is believed to be automaker’s attempt to keep the model relevant amidst a host of offerings in the segment.
