Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC 2017) is over and now the world is eyeing on one of the biggest smartphone launches of the year– Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. While the world is busy obsessing over the upcoming smartphones, the tech world is buzzing with gossips of another smartphone.
Samsung has long been rumoured to be working on a foldable smartphone under code name ‘Project Valley’ and now the word is that the company has filed the trademark for the ‘Galaxy X’ moniker. The trademark was first noticed by a Twitter user who shared the details of the trademark and the moniker in a post. According to the reports, the company might be launching the smartphone in the final quarter of 2017.
To put into perspective, Galaxy X is a 7-inch tablet which when folded would look like a smartphone with its display on the rear panel. Previous reports suggested that Samsung might unveil its foldable smartphone technology to a selected audience at the MWC 2017 to check the viability of the smartphone in the market. However, there is no confirmation on if this closed door meeting ever happened.

Samsung is not the only company that has been working on foldable smartphones. Reports suggest that Korean consumer electronic giant LG is also working on similar technology and the company might come up with its foldable smartphone in the final quarter this year.
