If saving the planet from alien life is one of the things on your bucket list, NASA has a special opening for you. The opening in NASA is for the post of a Planetary Protection Officer. The planetary protection officer (PPO) will be responsible for maintaining the safety of our beautiful planet should alien life attempt to contaminate it.
Apart from this, PPO “is responsible for the leadership of NASA’s planetary protection capability, maintenance of planetary protection policies and oversight of their implementation by NASA’s space flight missions,” NASA wrote in the job description.
The PPO will also be responsible for leading “independent evaluation and providing advice regarding the compliance by robotic and human spaceflight missions with NASA planetary protection policies, statutory requirements and international obligations,” the US space agency wrote.
And how much will you get paid for saving the planet?
NASA is paying between $124,406 (Rs 79,16,000 approx) and $187,000 (Rs 1,19,00,000 approx) per year for job. The initial appointment will be made for 3 years, which can be extended for 2 years. The selected person will receive a temporary promotion which may be turned to permanent.
However, there’s a catch as not anyone can apply for the job.

The job requires you to have a degree in physical science, engineering or mathematics that includes 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science.
