This year our very own ‘desi girl’ Priyanka Chopra honoured the world’s most lavish extravaganza Met Gala and she looked stunning. She was a major head turner for most of the Indian and international media and everybody was stumped at how gorgeous she looked in the Ralph Lauren trench coat and we are rooting for Priyanka for two reasons – first, despite this being her debut at the Met Gala, PeeCee fiercely went ahead and rocked the theme, unlike many actresses who play safe with luxury gowns or satin dresses (hey, we are not taking any names). Secondly, among the celebrities like Rihanna, Beyonce, or Katy Perry who were hailed for getting the theme right, Priyanka was like the breath of fresh air and definitely gave us new goals. She rocked the fierce look and made headlines by wearing world’s longest trench coat paired with mid-calf booties and the collar pop.
With lots of shutterbugs and paparazzi, come many trolls. Priyanka’s fiery look at the Gala invited an avalanche of tweets with people cheering, rooting for her and well, even trolling her. Trolls were largely based on her dress where Twitterati termed her as the official brand ambassador of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ or even that her dress has ‘coded message for libertarian society’. The actress took it in good humour and even retweeted her favourite memes. Glamorous and goofy. Major goals, right?
Priyanka was even picked amongst the 10 best ‘favourite looks’ at Met Gala 2017 by Time Out New York and a US magazine said: “Priyanka Chopra slayed”. With the sensational storm about Priyanka’s look, even Amul couldn’t help but celebrate PeeCee’s dress. The dairy brand applauded her dress on Twitter with a cartoon sketch and tagline that read, “Going, going, gown!” Check it out:
