Derek O’Brien is bursting the ‘Modi as Time’s Person of the Year’ bubble; one tweet at a time

The very articulate TMC leader and Rajya Sabha member Derek O’Brien has taken a dig at all the BJP and Narendra Modi supporters who have been going gaga over the Prime Minister making it as the “Times person of the Year.”

To begin with,  Modi didn’t win the “Times person of the Year” title but just the online poll for it. Narendra Modi had won the same online poll in 2014, the year he came to power riding on the huge “NaMo wave”. While in 2014 he had secured 16 per cent of the total votes cast, this year he secured 18 per cent, leaving behind strong contenders like Barack Obama and US President-elect Donald Trump.

One wouldn’t know how big an achievement the poll results are at a time when the Prime Minister is facing major criticism on his demonetisation move which has resulted in a serious cash crunch for common people. So, while all the BJP leaders came out in hordes to congratulate Modi for this achievement, Derek O’Brian quickly posted a couple of tweets that would work well to burst their bubble.

Congratulations Shri @narendramodi on winning Time Person of the Year readers’ poll. https://t.co/4HSboaQtHN
