If anyone knows how to make coming-of-the-age music that touches your soul, it’s Ed Sheeran!
He has released ‘Castle On The Hill’, which is the first music video from his soon-to-be-released album, Divide.
Sheeran spent 2016 away from the spotlight and social media to travel and work on his new album. He released two new songs this month, Shape of You, and Castle on the Hill.
Now, Castle on the Hill has an official music video, which gives us a poetic nostalgic peek into Sheeran’s teenage-hood growing up in Framlingham in Suffolk, England.
With beautiful lyrics like “Fifteen years old and smoking hand-rolled cigarettes/ Running from the law through the backfields and getting drunk with my friends/ Had my first kiss on a Friday night, I don’t reckon that I did it right.” he hits us right in the feels!
Ed announced on social media that all the kids in the music video are actually from his high school!
Isn’t nostalgia beautiful?
The most noticeable thing about the video is the red-headed doppelganger who plays a young Sheeran. The comment section is full of jokes and queries about the teen, who looks like a spitting-image of Sheeran.
Ed joked about the doppelganger teen a day prior to the release:
