Emmys 2017 announcer mispronounced Priyanka Chopra's name, Twitter unhappy

While presenting an award at the Emmys 2017, Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra was announced as "Priyanka Chopa" and Twitter was not happy.

Priyanka Chopra is a renowned personality across the world. The Bollywood actress stars as the lead in ABC’s crime drama thriller series Quantico and made her Hollywood debut with Seth Gordon’s Baywatch, making her way to becoming a global star. With all those accomplishments, one would assume people would be familiar with her name by now. While presenting an award at the Emmys 2017, Priyanka Chopra was incorrectly announced as “Priyanka Chopa” and needless to say, it was not a happy day.

The Emmy Awards were held on Sunday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles where Chopra was to present an award in the ‘Outstanding Variety Talk Series’ along with Blackish actor, Anthony Anderson. While being called on to the stage to present the award, that eventually went to ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’, Chopra’s name was mispronounced as “Priyanka Chopa”.

Following the incident, PeeCee fans were not happy. Fans of the Quantico star took it upon themselves to school the announcer on Twitter.

Of course, there was this one person who messed that up too:

In spite of the gaffe, nobody could take away Priyanka Chopra’s thunder as she flowed across the Red Carpet in white feathered Balmain dress. This is the second year in a row that Priyanka has made it to the Emmys. Perhaps, next year she would be able to take home an award for herself. Hopefully by then, people can learn to pronounce her name right.
