Netflix has finally decided on its decision to cancel the political drama, House of Cards. The series will not continue after its sixth season premieres, which is already in its production stage. Netflix’s decision came after the revelation of sexual harassment allegations of a minor against the show’s lead cast member Kevin Spacey. Spacey’s alleged sexual crimes created a furore over the internet which led to the decision.
On Monday, Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp alleged that Spacey had made a sexual advance at him back in 1986 in a Buzzfeed report. Rapp, then 14, stated that he was invited to a party at Spacey’s apartment where, after everyone had left, the 58-year-old actor made a sexual advance at him. He alleged that Spacey picked him up “like a groom picks up the bride” and lied on top of him. “I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually,” he stated.
While there was no confirmation of the truthfulness of the allegations, reportedly, Rapp has been consistent with his claims since the ’90s, even when he hadn’t named his harasser. Regardless, the revelation created waves across social media and Spacey was heavily criticised, especially following his “conditional apology.”

While Netflix already “leaning towards” wrapping up the series, Deadline reports the entertainment company decided to call it quits so that the cast could “continue to feel safe and supported.” Netflix now plans to work on a spin-off series instead. As thoughtful as they are being, Netflix’s move wasn’t welcome by all.
No need to catch up on House of Cards after all

Who needs house of cards when the news is this crazy

Why do we need House of Cards when we have our “live” version unfolding in front of us.

A few others even suggested that the series should not return for a sixth season and needs to be cancelled right away.
Hey @Netflix…continuing to film the ‘last’ season of House of Cards doesn’t cut it. HALT PRODUCTION immediately and abort it now!

I would be fine if they just ended House of Cards like now instead of after the next season

So, Netflix wants us to think it’s axing House of Cards bc of Spacey news, except per the Baltimore Sun they decided months ago this would be the end, and also they’re not firing him? Gotcha. -H

But is it really fair to cancel House of Cards and take away the jobs and livelihood of several cast and crew members, who put in their hard work to uphold the series? After all, the only person who has been accused of being in the wrong is Spacey. It wouldn’t be completely absurd to fire him, given the events of the last season, this would be the perfect time to move Frank Underwood out of the picture.
In the last season(s), we saw Frank’s wife, Claire Underwood, emerge as a powerful leader who is at par with, if not better than, Frank when it comes to playing politics. Mrs Underwood even assumed the Oval Office in the last season, becoming the 47th President of the United States. Moreover, we all love Robin Wright, don’t we?
People on Twitter pitched the idea to Netflix, calling for the show’s writers to kill off Frank and have Claire take charge (which she was already doing really).
House of Cards Solution:
1. Kill off Frank Underwood
2. Claire steps over the body
3. The show & Claire carry on pic.twitter.com/B9UAjNRrlK— Jenn Carson (@8675309Carson) October 30, 2017
I am absolutely on board for an all-Claire season of @HouseofCards. Robin Wright’s career does not need to be another Spacey victim.

Would I watch a house of cards with just Claire Underwood?
Yes I’d actually prefer it pic.twitter.com/enTQOM6lYQ

can we get #onlyClaire trending? Cause that’s all the Underwoods Season 6 of House of Cards needs. pic.twitter.com/XUI8E9D9ny

Not sure why they’re cancelling House of Cards when obviously Claire should just kill off Frank and become president…problem solved. pic.twitter.com/irDVHz8MiB

House of Cards S6, E1, Scene 1: Wide shot. Rainy funeral at Arlington. Robin Wright: “If there’s one thing my late husband stood for…”

Hoping @HouseofCards rewrites the season, opens it up with Frank’s funeral, and continues it as a Robin Wright franchise. It’s worth it.

FIRE KEVIN SPACEY AND LET ROBIN WRIGHT BE THE LEAD OF HOUSE OF CARDS LIKE SHE HAS DESERVED FOR SEVERAL SEASONS NOW pic.twitter.com/aD1HCgVu0M

Now, isn’t that a show we’d all love to watch? What do you say?
