Sachin Tendulkar has been called many things but never selfish. As the cricketer’s biopic, Sachin: A Billion Dreams is ready to hit the box office, the master -blaster decided to screen the film first for the Indian Armed Forces. Chants of “Sachin-Sachin” resonated at the screening, and the film was appreciated by the personnel and the families of the Indian Air Force, Indian Army and Indian Navy. Sachin: A Billion Dreams, is a biographical drama which captures the cricketing icon’s journey from a young boy to the legend that he is now. The movie is all set to hit the silver screens on May 26.
In a public statement, Sachin Tendulkar went on to claim that this had been his intention from the very beginning, but had to convince the producer to agree for a special screening. In a public statement Sachin said, “When I decided to do this movie, first thought was that 1st screening should be for Indian Armed forces”. Sachin shared the humbling experience with videos, photos and tweets galore, which was when the trouble started brewing.
Thank you for everything that you do for us, as part of the Indian Armed Forces. Enjoyed this very special viewing of #SachinABillionDreams. pic.twitter.com/L5BkCaIyXw

Just three days ago, Sachin met with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi “to seek his blessings” and the move was also largely touted as promotion of his film by many. Sachin’s meeting with PM Modi came just a week ahead of the release of his much-awaited film.

However as social media got to know of the special screening for the Armed Forces, Twitter decided to speak up. Slamming the legendary cricket player for overtly promoting his film, and raising the issue of his continued absence from the Rajya Sabha, as well as his newfound interest in the Indian Armed Forces. Twitter was busy posting questions at the true intent behind this screening. People weren’t shying away and went ahead to express their anger over the alleged gimmick.

@ANI_news An irresponsible guy who became an MP to remain absent in parliament and ignored his duty is now doing drama to promote his film.

@jyotsnadevi33 @ANI_news @sachin_rt Let him show his true intent by attending Parliament regularly and debate on social issues and bring about change. Not to play for galleries
