Old age is for sitting in that lawn basking in the sunlight sipping tea and watching kids play. Nope. Old age is for leaving your inhibitions behind and travelling places you always wanted to go but couldn’t go because of your schedule and responsibilities all your life. That’s what these three grandmoms from Delhi are doing. And it’s remarkable and inspiring at the same time.
Neeru Gandhi, Monica Chanana and Pratibha Sabharwal who probably thought that it was finally their time to actually live are in their 60s and are travelling their heart out across India. They took their first road trip in March 2016 from Delhi to Rameshwaram. It took them 29 days to And there’s no looking back since then.
The ‘Nanis on the Highway’, yes, that’s what they call themselves, faced a number of hindrances that included flat tyres and people constantly asking if the three of them were travelling “alone”. In their blog they write, “How can three people travelling together be alone?”.
They have now updated themselves with the latest technology including tripods, selfies sticks and of course Paytm. They firmly believe that age has nothing to do with going all out to have fun. Their pictures stand testimony to that.
On their way, they meet people they eat delicious food they explore they click pictures they create memories. Can think of a better way to spend your retirement? I can’t.
Also. earlier this month, set on another journey and travelled all the way to Rajasthan. After covering major towns and cities of Sikar, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaiselmer, Barmer, they are now headed to Gujarat.
Keep inspiring ladies!
