As CBSE, ICSE and state boards release the results of Class 10 and 12 exams, stories of students scoring perfect or near-perfect scores have populated the news feeds. But that of a Delhi-based mother, whose son scored 60% in his Class 10 exams, is winning hearts online.
Vandana Sufia Katoch, a mother of two boys, wrote in a Facebook post on May 6 how immensely proud she was of her son for wading through the stresses of exams.
“Super proud of my boy who scored a 60% in Class 10 board exams. Yes it is not a 90, but that doesn’t change how I feel. Simply because I have seen him struggle with certain subjects almost to the point of giving up, and then deciding to give his all in the last month-and-a-half to finally make it through! Here’s to you, Aamer. And others like you – fishes asked to climb trees. Chart your own course in the big, wide ocean, my love. And keep your innate goodness, curiosity and wisdom alive. And of course, your wicked sense of humour!”
The post has since gone viral with over 3.6K shares and over 900 comments at the time of publishing this article.
She told Momspresso that she was celebrating that her son had given his 100% even though he had been struggling with certain subjects. She also told that parents need to change their mindsets and not compare the marks of their kids with other children.
“I have unshakeable faith in my son and his capabilities. There is more to a child than what shows up on the mark sheet. I want my child to explore his strengths and pursue a field of his interest.”
