When Psy released his K-pop single Gangnam Style back in 2012, it became an instant viral sensation. Even though not everyone understood what the song was about (being in Korean and all), it did manage to amass a huge fan base for Psy. In fact, being the first video to reach one billion views on Youtube, it helped put K-pop on the global map. After five years of the song’s release, it has gained close to 2.9 billion views on Youtube and while that is a gigantic number, Gangnam Style is not the most viewed video on Youtube anymore.
Gangnam Style, that held the title of Youtube’s ‘Most Viewed Video’ has now been dethroned and the new taker happens to be the video for “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth. The video surpassed Gangnam Style by a slight (relatively) margin of about 2 million views.

The song that was released in April 2015 was included in The Fast and the Furious movie series’ seventh instalment Furious 7. Clocking at 2.896 billion views, “See You Again” is now the most viewed video on Youtube. You can watch the video below:

Earlier, when Gangnam Style had first come out, it topped charts across the world and Youtube views quickly climbed, beating the-then most watched videos, “Baby” by Justin Bieber, and “On the Floor” by Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull.
However, “See You Again” might not remain at the top for too long as Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” has been ascending quickly. Currently, at number five with 2.483 billion views, the video will need to beat “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars (2.55 billion views) and “Sorry” from Justin Bieber’s Purpose: The Movement (2.635 billion views).
