Unless you’ve just been born, you probably know of Tip Tip Barsa Pani and the dance moves by Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar that as iconic today as they were back then. The song from the 1994 film Mohra was a rage because of how it captured both Raveena and Akshay’s characters romancing the rain. The cult yellow chiffon saree worn by Raveena was in itself a trend-setting moment. Even if the choreography wasn’t enough to create a hallmark of its own, Tip Tip Barsa Pani had a peppy vibe that no other song managed to create that early in the 90s. Years may has passed but the craze for this song hasn’t disappeared. From dance reality shows to YouTube viral videos, everyone tries a hand at their own version of this dance piece.
This all-girls Jazz dancing crew from Mumbai decided to try a hand at this sensational song. The BOM Squad dressed in a fusion of the top-half of a saree and the mixed it with cute white skirts to give the video a contemporary mix. The troupe has perfected the art of the new dance form which is Bollywhack which is an amalgamation of Bollywood jhatkas (twists) and whacking. Their version of the track has been shared on social media widely and created a sensation of its own. The 2.02-minute video already has 116,745 views and 2000 shares. The YouTube page of the cool jazz squad has 68,551 subscribers.
Performed by the members of BOM squad, Radhika Mayadev, Roshini Nair and Svetana Kanwar, (with the choreography done by Svetana) will have you hooked from the word go.
