What the Bengaluru molestation case has done is mobilized a lot of people into giving their comments and insights into why and what of all that happened. While it is known that discussions would do next to nothing to fix the situation, one cannot help but notice that even getting people to express themselves on such matters is indeed some achievement.
In one such post on her account Ashwin Siddhi writes about how all feminism aside, women and even men need to avoid places that pose a threat to their well being and are crime hubs. While at first most people would dismiss her as a victim blaming post, a little bit of reading into it shows how what she speaks of is about common sense.
Here is her facebook post:
To set the record straight, in no way is molestation or rape justified, but Ashwin Siddhi is very right when she says that one needs to do whatever is needed to keep ourselves safe. She also makes a very strong point when she says that armchair activism will fetch us no results and politicians who have nothing good to say had rather remain shut. No matter what incident is being spoken about indeed sitting with keyboards and laptops and expressing anger in rants serves no purpose aside of stretching the discussion further.
