Virender Sehwag tweets an insensitive comment about climate change, baffles twitter. But, there's a catch. Read more to find out

Virender Sehwag is always in news for his class commentary or his cricket innings, but mostly, for his sarcastic and intelligent tweets on ongoing issues and current topics in India. While other famous personalities weigh their words and choose to be reticent on issues, Virender Sehwag is among few personalities (Read: Rishi Kapoor, Shirish Kunder, Sona Mahapatra) who never shies away from opining. Being a rare blend of intelligent, gutsy and goofy, it makes Sehwag favourite among his loyal Twitter fans (10.1 million, just so you know!) But, more often than not, this outspoken disposition of his lands him in controversies too.

The same thing happened today. The Nawab-of-120-characters tweeted about Global Warming. But, instead of addressing the issue, Sehwag went ahead and indirectly called it a fake or made-up issue and added that global warming only exists in the US. In a nation, that is facing major threats from surging pollution and contributes a huge chunk of industrial, metallurgical and vehicular waste and pollution resulting in soaring of Global warming in the world, Sehwag’s insensitive tweet was a major blow for the Indian Twitterati. Horror-struck, Twitter could not believe that their favourite personality can pen something this insensitive especially on a platform that is read by millions.  Check what tweeple had to say:

In another case, all we can say the man is a genius for doing what he does best – sarcastic tweets. Some tweeple realised his sarcasm and tweeted:

But, in reality, Sehwag’s tweet was an apolitical effort to raise awareness about environment change and highlight vehicular pollution and congestion, which us poor Indian netizens failed to decipher. In another video tweet posted just now, Sehwag is pinpointing his previous hurtful comment and talking about the upcoming World’s Environment Day on June 5th.

Trolled by the master? Whatever it is, let’s give him credit for highlighting the climatic issue and starting the talk!
