Why Indigo's New Web Check-In Policy Has Us All Worked Up

As per their revised policy, all seats will be chargeable for web check-in.

No-frills budget Indian carrier IndiGo has caught Twitterati’s attention after they changed their web check-in policy. As per their revised policy, all seats will be chargeable for web check-in.

In reply to an online post complaining about the charges during web check-in, IndiGo replied, “As per our revised policy all seats are chargeable for web check-in. Alternatively, you may check-in at the airport for free. Seats will be assigned as per the availability.”

The airline further tweeted that the revision in policy came into effect on November 14 with additional charges for web check-in ranging between Rs 100 to Rs 800, depending on the position of the seat.

Not just  that, IndiGo also clarified in another tweet that it’s not necessary that more than one tickets booked with same PNR, will get the seats together. “The pre-book option let you reserve your seat together in case you’re travelling as a group or you may opt for the free seat at the airport counter, depending upon availability,” Tweeted IndiGo.

As soon as the Tweet went viral, both frequent and occasional flyers lambasted the airlines overcharging extra for convenience.
