Anjali Lama is pretty known in the fashion circuit. The transgender model created history when she became the first person of the third gender to walk the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week, in Mumbai recently. Since that wasn’t enough, Anjali Lama has gone ahead to create another first. This time she’s become the first transgender model to be on the cover of the L’Officiel Magazine, July edition.
Anjali Lama who was born in Nepal, moved to India after struggling to make it in her home country for acceptance as a transgender model and landed in Mumbai. In February, Anjali graced the cover of the online edition of Elle India and this time it is the magazine cover of L’Officiel that has the privilege of hosting the gorgeous model.
Anjali Lama has walked the ramp for designers like Tarun Tahiliani and Anita Dongre. Her story is an inspiring one but more than that her confidence and beauty is striking. Anjali was born as Nabin Wabia in a small village of Nepal but lives in India. She reportedly said, “India is a little above Nepal when it comes to development, and people are by and large helpful. In fact, that’s what triggered my decision to come here and explore career opportunities. Indians are far more broadminded and receptive.”
