Today in casual-misogyny: ABC Radio national presenter Patricia Karvelas was asked to leave the press gallery inside Australia’s parliament for showing “too much skin”.
Karvelas tweeted that she had been kicked out of the BBC’s “Question Time” program for allegedly wearing a ‘revealing’ outfit. She also shared a picture in which she is seen wearing a sleeveless, white blouse and black pants. She wrote, “I have just been kicked out of #QT because you can allegedly see too much skin”.

She also shared a picture of her ‘controversial outfit’.

Speaking to ABC News, Karvelas said “The attendant came up to me; she was very polite. She said she was essentially executing orders of her supervisor, who said my clothes, what I’m wearing: too much shoulder. Basically, I needed to cover up more, I needed a jacket.”
As per Parliament of Australia website, the mentioned standard of dress is a matter of individual judgment, however, the final decision is of the speaker. The website also mentions, ” the standards should involve good trousers, a jacket, collar and tie for men and a similar standard of formality for women.”
As soon as she tweeted, a lot of women come out in support of Karvelas. They started sharing pictures of themselves with bare arms.
