Apple on September 12, 2017, unveiled its anniversary edition smartphone– iPhone X (pronounced as iPhone Ten), which marks a decade of iPhone’s launch in 2000, at a special event in its newly constructed campus in the heart of Santa Clara Valley in the US. The new iPhone was unveiled by Apple CEO Tim Cook at a special theatre in the Apple Park which is dedicated to the company’s former CEO Steve Jobs.
The premium edition of the company’s latest iPhone was launched alongside iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Apple Watch Series 3, which features an e-SIM with cellular access and Apple TV 4K, which features 4K HDR 10 video technology.
As anticipated iPhone X features state-of-the-art technology with a bezel-less design. iPhone X features a 5.8-inch OLED ‘Super Retina’ display with 1125 x 2436 pixels of resolution, an all-glass design and an aluminium metal chassis. iPhone X sports a ‘True Tone screen’, which means that the device will automatically adjust the colour temperature of the screen based on your lighting.
The company has ditched its traditional home screen button in iPhone X and replaced it with gestures. The company has also added an enhanced facial recognition system– Face ID in place of its Touch ID, which will combine the input from eight cameras and sensors to identify the face of its user. Users will be able to use Face ID to unlock Apple Pay and other third-party apps.
In terms of the camera, iPhone X features a new 12MP dual-lens camera system which is placed vertically on the back side of the phone. The camera features optical image stabilisation (OIS) technology along with an enhanced portrait mode.
