Apple shows off new emojis, here’s what Twitterati have to say

On World Emoji Day, Apple teased the new emojis that will be coming to iOS, MacOS and WatchOS later this year. These include an elf, a woman with hijab and a man doing yoga among others

Apple on Monday teased a host of new emojis that will be coming to iOS, MacOS and WatchOS later this year. The Cupertino-based tech giant said that the new emojis were launched to mark the World Emoji Day, which is observed on July 17 every year. Apple CEO Tim Cook also took to Twitter to share the message about the emojis on the World Emoji Day. “Happy #WorldEmojiDay! We’ve got some new ones to show you, coming later this year!,” he wrote in a tweet along with a GIF of the new emojis.

The new emojis are a part of Unicode 10.0 and include many interesting characters like a woman with a headscarf, a breastfeeding woman, a bearded man, a man doing yoga, a zombie, T-rex, a zebra, a genie and an elf. The new emojis also include food items like a sandwich and a coconut and smiley like star-struck face and an exploding head smiley. However, you will have to add the new keyboard to your list of approved keyboards to add the new emojis on to your iOS device.

Apart from this, Apple said that it would be highlighting the apps to do fun and creative stuff with the emojis on the App Store. “Also in celebration of World Emoji Day, the App Store will be highlighting apps to create or do fun things with emoji, and iTunes Movies is featuring emoji in place of select movie titles,” the company wrote in a blog post.
