After storming the world with its smart-ass gadgets like iPhone, iPod, iPad and Macs, the next logical for the company would be to design a kickass smart speaker. And the word is that the Cupertino-based company could unveil its AI assistant-based, smart speaker, as soon as in June this year.
According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has an excellent track record in predicting details about Apple products, the company could unveil its ‘Siri speaker’ at WWDC 2017, which is scheduled to take place between June 5-9.
Kuo said that Apple’s smart speaker would cost slightly more than Amazon Echo and would come with one woofer and seven tweeters and feature support for AirPlay. He said that, performance wise, the smart speaker would be similar to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s and that it would offer excellent acoustics for better home entertainment.
On the other hand, another report by leaker Sonny Dickson, Apple’s smart speaker could utilise some variant of iOS and would be placed directly against Amazon Echo and Google Home. The report further claims that Apple could also open the smart speaker to the developers.

However, that’s not it as Dickson also paints a clear picture of how the AI-based smart speaker would look like. The Siri speaker would come with a concave top, where the controls will be placed and with a body covered by mesh.
It is worth noting that at this point, all of these are reports and we won’t know anything for sure till WWDC 2017 begins in June this year.
