From iOS 11 to MacBook Pro, here are 9 key takeaways from Apple WWDC 2017

Apple announced a number of products on the first day of WWDC 2017. It not only refreshed iMac and MacBook Pro line but also announced iOS 11. Check out all the key announcements from WWDC 2017 here

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference 2017 (WWDC 2017) began amid light shows and fireworks (not literally) in the heart of the Sillicon Valley in San Jose, California on Monday. The event saw the Cupertino-based company surprising the world with its out of the world gizmos and gadgets. The event began with the Apple CEO Tim Cook welcoming the audience. “It is going to be the best and biggest WWDC ever,” he said before making the announcements.

The company made several big announcements at the event, which included refreshing its old line of softwares and devices and introducing new gizmos, adding new members to its family.

From iOS 11 to new MacBooks, here are 9 things that you need to know about Apple WWDC 2017:

iPad Pro

Apple has refreshed its line of iPad Pro tablets. The 10.5-inch model is powered by Apple’s all mighty A10X Fusion chipset and runs on iOS 11. According to the company, it features the world’s most advanced Retina display that provides an intensive 3D gaming experience. It comes with Apple’s native image signal processors and sports a battery life of about 10 hours. You can also write notes, draw images and sign documents using Apple’s stylus pen. Price: $649 for 10.5-inch model; $799 for the 12.9-inch model.

iOS 11

Apple has finally graced us with a preview of its brand new smartphone operating system– iOS 11, which will be featured on iPhone Edition (or iPhone 8). The company claims that it is the world’s most advanced operating system and it includes many interesting features. From a smarter Siri and Apple Pay that brings money transfer to Messages to better camera quality and inline drawing, iOS 11 makes multi-tasking super easy. It will be available for download this fall.

iMac

Apple has also refreshed its line of iMac desktop computers. The new 21.5-inch iMac features Retina 4K display and is powered by the seventh generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors. It comes with the powerful 3TB Fusion Drive. The 27-inch iMac comes with 5K display and 8GB RAM. While the 21.5-inch model comes with turbo boost speed up to 4.2GHz, the 27-inch model comes with a turbo boost speed of up to 4.5GHz. Price: Starting from $1299

MacBook Pro

Apple had refreshed its line of Macbook Pro laptops last year introducing the revolutionary Touch Bar. This year, the company has taken its iconic laptop to a whole new level. Apart from upgrading its processor, which now provides turbo boost speed of up tp 4.1 GHz, Touch Bar too has got a makeover as it now gives you quick access to even more commands and keys. Another major upgrade includes bringing Touch ID on Mac. The new Mac is faster and more powerful than all its predecessors. Price: Starting from $1,299

iMac Pro

iMacs are undoubtedly one the most powerful desktop computers in the world. But iMac Pro is something else. To give you a perspective, the new iMac Pro comes with 18 core (a regular iMac features just 8 cores) along with a turbo boost speed of up to 4.5GHz, 400 GB/s memory bandwidth and memory of up to 128GB. Apart from the specs that give it its lightning speed, the new iMac Pro sports four USB-C ports and 10GB Ethernet. With a screen that supports up to 44 million pixels and 5K Retina display, it is faster, brighter and better than any other desktop that you have ever seen. It will be available in the market from December this year.

macOS High Sierra

You have met Sierra, now it’s time that you meet the new operating system that will be powering the Mac computers. High Sierra is better at organising your photo collection, faster and safer than its predecessor, graphics intensive and suppports third-party apps. Apart from this, it also features the upgraded version of Apple’s digital assistant Siri and is better at organising all your data including your mails and files. High Sierra will hit the App Store this fall.

HomePod

HomePod is Apple’s take on Amazon’s smart speaker Amazon Echo. HomePod is powered by A8 processor and is backed by Siri. It brings Apple Music’s gigantic library containing songs from over two million artists to your finger tips. Interestingly, it not only responds to your voice but also to your touch. Just tap on the top of the smart speaker to play, pause or adjust the volume. Price: $349

watchOS 4

If you thought only macOS and iOS have got an upgrade, you’re wrong. Apple has also upgraded it watchOS making it more intutive and intelligent. With watchOS 4, you will not only get daily inspirational messages but also your daily targets. Apart from it, watchOS 4 also features enhanced swim tracking and gym eqipment sync. It automatically syncs with Apple Music to bringing your playlist to your watch. watchOS 4 will be hitting the App Store this fall.

App Store

Last but not the least, Apple has given App Store a much awaited makeover. The updated App Store features three new tabs– Today Tab that gives you updates from around the world; Games Tab that curates all the interesting games for you; and Apps Tab that organises all the essential apps for you. It also features life saving tips and tricks and enhanced search options. The new App Store will be available this fall.
