Google on August 2, 2017, hosted its first App Excellence Summit for developers in Bengaluru. The event brought together over 700 Indian app and games developers to help them create quality apps that are relevant for local app users. The tech giant also announced Google Play ‘Made for India‘ initiative that will help app developers to optimise apps to suit the Indian audience.
“At Google Play we are committed to helping Indian developers of all sizes build successful, locally relevant businesses. A lot of what we do is support developers imaginations and make Android consumers aware of the amazing new experiences our developers are creating,” Purnima Kochikar, Director, Business Development, Games and Apps Google Play said in a statement.
As a part of the ‘Made for India’ program, Indian app developers can have a unique chance to develop apps that are specially customised for the Indian markets. These apps will be showcased on the Google Play Store in India.
Apart from this, Google also revealed some startling facts about Play Store users in India. Google revealed that India has more Android users than the US. Also, Indian users install more than 1 billion apps every month. The number of apps installed in India grew by 150 percent in past one year.
