Here’s everything you need to know about the rumoured iPhone 8

After revolutionising smartphone technology with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, what is Apple up to this year?

The year 2017 marks the year when iPhone turns 10. It was 10 years ago on January 9, 2007, that Steve Jobs first introduced the iconic smartphone– iPhone at Macworld 2007 in San Francisco. Since then, the phone has witnessed radical changes, not just in terms of design but also in terms of technological advancements. So, it is natural that this year the company would introduce some major changes to its flagship device.

Although, it has been just four months since Apple launched iPhone 7, rumours about the next model of the smartphone have already started doing rounds on the social media. From the display to technology, the word is that Apple is going to take a giant leap with its upcoming device.

Here are the features that we might get to see in the new iPhone:

Display and screen
The word is that the new iPhone, that might be named iPhone 8 or Ferrari, will include an edge-to-edge OLED display and integrate Touch ID fingerprint sensor while ditching its conventional home screen button. As far as the screen size is concerned, the rumours suggest everything from 4.7-inch to 5.8-inch display size. Furthermore, the phone is likely to have curved edges, replacing all buttons and potentially incorporating the front camera into the screen itself.

Body and colours
According to reports,  Apple will bid adieu to its metal body to opt for a glass body look, in at least one of the models that it will release. Though the rumours of a glass-design did rounds last year as well, however, the hopes of the change-over this year remain high.

Charging
Rumours suggest that the new iPhone is likely to get wireless charging ability. Although, some top-end smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S6 and S7 have already been using the wireless charging technology, but the smartphone still needs to be placed on the disc to be charged. But with the new iPhone, Apple is planning to take wireless charging to the next level by enabling the phone to charge over the air via radio waves.

Splash of colour
As bizarre as it sounds, but the word is that the company is planning to introduce at least one of its smartphones in the colour red, adding a new shade to its metallic colour palette.

Others
The list of rumours surrounding the upcoming iPhone is endless. Another piece of info suggests that Apple’s new smartphone will feature an all-powerful A11 chipset along with an upgraded version of its operating system. Apple introduced its home-made A10 Fusion chipset to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The processor performed 40 percent better than its predecessor A9. If at all Apple features A11 processor in the new smartphone, its capabilities remain a matter of speculations. Another feature that is likely to be seen in the new iPhone is augmented reality (AR), a technology that gained popularity last year thanks to Pokemon GO. Apple is likely to incorporate AR technology in its 3D mapping system, which would allow users to read street signs on screen and even pull up profiles of people.

Apple has opted for a September launch of its iPhones since a long time. We expect the same this year as well. The confirmation about the launch event should come around the last week of August or the first week of September.

Till then, sit tight and keep speculating!
