Up until now, professional photographers have used DSLR cameras to shoot photographs for professional projects like magazine covers, documentaries and tabloids. But that’s changing slowly, all thanks to the mobile technology that is squeezing in powerful cameras into relatively smaller space. The smartphone these days are packed with technology that allows amateur photographers to shoot high-quality images like a pro.
One of the finest examples of such photography can be seen on the cover page of the food magazine Bon Appétit, which shot its May cover using an iPhone (yes, it’s absolutely true).
It is for the first time that the magazine has shot its cover photo using a smartphone camera and needless to say that the results are absolutely astonishing. Take a look at the cover:
“The iPhone lens is how we look at photography now. It changes the whole process and feel of a photo shoot, making it more intimate, less invasive, more nimble. We wanted to create something our reader would relate to,” creative director of Bon Appétit, Alex Grossman said in a press release.
“Shooting the well is one thing. Shooting the cover is another. This is technology completely changing how the publishing and design industries are moving forward,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that the cover image was shot using Apple iPhone 7 Plus, which comes with a 12 MP rear camera and a 7 MP front camera. With a wide-angle and a telephoto lens, the rear camera packs in two cameras in a tiny space.
All the Apple iPhone 7 Plus owners must be feeling proud right?!
