Buckle up trainers as Legendary Pokemon are finally coming to the world of Pokemon GO! Niantic has announced that soon millions of trainers around the world will be able to discover, battle and catch the powerful legendary Pokemon. These Pokemon, which include Zapdos, Moltres, Lugia and Articuno among others, will appear during the raid battles near the Poke gyms.
“As part of our ongoing celebration of Pokémon GO’s one-year anniversary, we’re excited to reveal that Legendary Pokémon are nearly here,” Niantic wrote in a blog post.
So how do I catch a legendary Pokemon?
Catching a legendary Pokemon is both exciting and difficult. Trainers will have to keep an eye out for ‘Legendary Eggs’ appearing at the gym as they battle the Raid Bosses in their neighbourhood. If trainers and their teams are able to defeat a Legendary Raid Boss, they will have an exclusive chance to catch a Legendary Pokémon of their own (yay!).

While the Legendary Pokemon will help the trainers to defeat the toughest Raid Bosses at the gym battles, they cannot be left alone. To put it simply, trainers can’t leave their Legendary Pokemon to defend the gym while they are out to take on other challenges.

The quest to catch the Legendary Pokemon and become a Poke Master will begin on July 22 at the Grand Park in the US. If trainers and their teams are able to catch enough Pokemon during the Pokémon GO Fest Challenge Windows, a legendary Pokemon will be revealed in the Grand Park. “If the Trainers in Chicago succeed in defeating the Legendary Pokémon, that Pokémon will start appearing in Raid Battles around the world, after Pokémon GO Fest,” Niantic added.
So trainers, are you ready to catch ’em all?
