While the world is still trying to get over Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 disaster, the word is that the smartphone giant Samsung is planning to make a stellar comeback with a ‘foldable’ smartphone. Yes, you heard me right– a smartphone that can be folded like a book!
According to reports, Samsung is planning to unveil a 7-inch tablet that can be folded once opened. While previous reports suggested that the display would face inwards once the phone is folded, however, recent reports suggest that the display might face outwards on folding for the convenience of the consumers.
Reports further suggest that Samsung might produce nearly 100,000 units of the smartphone and is likely to unveil the ‘super phone’ codenamed ‘Galaxy X‘ in the third quarter of this year.
Samsung has been working on the foldable phone technology since 2008 when the company’s display division first showed off the prototype of a foldable screen. Since then the company has kept the technology under wraps.
