Parents can rejoice now. A new app has been developed to keep your children’s sanskaras in check. A professor of Institute of Medical Sciences of Banaras Hindu University (IMS-BHU), Dr Vijay Nath Mishra, has designed ‘Har Har Mahadev’, an app that blocks any website that contains vulgar or violent content.
Dr Mishra, who is a professor of Neurology, created the app along with his team to control the information students are exposed to on campus. The app won’t just block porn websites, but will also play a Hindu devotional song every time someone tries to open an “inappropriate website.”
While speaking to The New Indian Express, Dr Mishra stated,
Human minds are exposed to violence and vulgarity because of easy access to the internet. The aim of this app was to have a filtering system in place.
At the moment, the app only features Hindu bhajans as options, however, Dr Mishra hopes to add more filters as the app grows in popularity.
Web developer Ankit Srivastava, who assisted in creating the app, says that it can also be useful in professional environments to block unsuitable content. He told TNIE,
The app, which has identified over 3,000 ‘objectionable’ websites, can also enable blocking of social media sites such as Facebook and YouTube.
The app, which took six months to be developed, is available to be used only on laptops and desktops as of now, but will later be made available for Android devices as well.
