In a bid to counter the growing popularity of the newbie telecom operator Reliance Jio which has stormed the market with its disruptive plans and a 4G feature phone, Vodafone India has announced a new plan for the students. As a part of the new plan, customers who opt for this plan will get unlimited calls along with 1 GB of 3G/4G data per day for 84 days.
Vodafone’s Campus Survival Kit costs Rs 445 for new connections and it offers unlimited voice calls, 1 GB 3G or 4G data per day for 84 days, a messenger bag and discount coupons. A subsequent recharge of Rs 352 will offer similar benefits. “The survival kit is for Rs 445, it includes discount booklet from Ola, Zomato and others, valid for 84 days, post the expiration, 352 recharge will give them same benefits,” Vodafone India Delhi circle business head Alok Verma said in a statement to PTI.
The discount booklet includes coupons from Zomato, Ola among others, which will be valid for a period 84 days. The company will be rolling out the plan in phases in the country. However, the recharge value will vary from region to region. At present, the company is offering 1,200 minutes per week with a limit of 300 minutes a day along with 1 GB data per day for 84 days for Rs 349 in the Delhi – National Capital Region.

Meanwhile, Idea Cellular, which has merged with Vodafone India, will soon be launching the cheapest 4G smartphone in the country. The device will cost around Rs 2,500 and will enable users to choose between 2G and 4G networks apart from enabling them to download applications of their choice.
