Messaging on Whatsapp just got a whole lot interesting. Yes, in a sweet surprise for its Android users, the popular social messaging app has added GIF search to its platform. You can send interesting GIFs to your friends and family members by tapping on the smiley icon that appears within the Whatsapp app. The GIF icon appears at the bottom of the page right next to the emoji icon when you tap on it.
The GIF search is powered by GIPHY and TENOR, libraries of which can be accessed by clicking on the search option, that appears when you click on the emoji icon.
But that’s not it. To facilitate media sharing on its platform, Whatsapp has also increased the image sharing limit from 10 to 30, making bulk sharing of images convenient and possible. However, there’s a catch. The two new features are available only on the beta version 2.17.6 of the Android app. So, if you are a beta tester, it’s time that you update your app to add the ‘fun factor’ to messaging. For others, the update should arrive on your app soon.

Whatsapp had introduced the GIF library to its iOS app in November last year. It had also added the feature of sending and receiving shorter videos and live photos, all of which could be converted into GIFs. The feature also included editing the GIF by trimming, rotating or adding text or smiley to the GIF.
